OZONE
HIGHER TEMPERATURES increase ground level ozone, a severe respiratory irritant formed when pollutants interact in the presence of heat and sunlight. When ozone is high, there are more emergency visits and hospital stays for people with lung disease. Deaths increase with rises in ozone even at levels deemed safe by the US Environmental Protection Agency.
